Who this article is for: employees who have received an Employee Benefits CleverCard from their employer and want to pass it to someone else instead of using it themselves.
Employee Benefits CleverCards can be transferred to someone else, but only under certain conditions. Here's what you need to know before passing yours on.
An Employee Benefits CleverCard is a prepaid CleverCard issued to you by your employer as part of a benefits or rewards scheme.
Only unactivated cards can be transferred
You can only transfer an Employee Benefits CleverCard while it is still unactivated, meaning the recipient has not yet used the activation link to turn it into a live card. Once a card is activated, it is tied to that person's identity and can no longer be transferred to anyone else.
How to transfer an unactivated card
- Find the original email you received containing the activation link.
- Forward that email to the person you want to give the card to.
- The recipient uses the link in that email to activate the card themselves, using their own details.
To activate the CleverCard, the recipient must be over 18.
Important
- Only send the activation email to someone you know and trust, whoever activates the card becomes its cardholder.
- Once the recipient activates the card, they take on full responsibility for its use, and the transfer cannot be reversed.
