Who this article is for: CleverCards Cardholders whose card is expiring, has expired, or has been fully spent.
Does my CleverCard expire?
There are two expiry dates to be aware of, depending on whether your card has been activated yet.
| Stage | When it expires |
| Token, before activation | 13 months from the date it was issued, unless you are told otherwise, in line with our Token Terms and Conditions |
| Card, after activation | The date shown on the front of your card in the App, set by your card's Terms and Conditions, which were shared in your activation email |
A token is the secure link in your activation email. Once you activate it, it becomes your digital card. That is why two different expiry dates apply.
My Business Card has expired or is about to
A new Business Card can be issued through the Business Portal. The expired card needs to be closed and any remaining funds unloaded before the replacement is issued.
If your card is close to expiring but has not yet, it may be possible to arrange an extension instead of a replacement.
These steps are carried out by your company's Business Portal administrator, not by you as a cardholder.
My card has no balance left. Can you close my account?
When your card reaches a zero balance, we keep it active for 30 days so you can still access your transaction history. After the 30 days, the card is removed from the App automatically.
If you would like the card removed from the App sooner than that, contact us and we can do that for you.
If you just want the card off your phone, you can remove it from your wallet yourself at any time. This removes it from your device only. The card and your transaction history stay available in the App until the card is removed after the 30 days.
To remove your card from Apple Wallet (iPhone):
- Open the Wallet app.
- Tap the card you want to remove.
- Tap the More button (the three dots) in the top right corner.
- Tap Card Details, then scroll down and tap Remove Card.
- Confirm when prompted.
To remove your card from Google Wallet (Android):
- Open the Google Wallet app.
- Tap the card you want to remove.
- Tap the More menu (the three dots) in the top right corner.
- Tap Remove payment method.
- Confirm when prompted.
