Cross-border fee
A cross-border fee applies when you make a purchase in a currency different from the one your CleverCard was issued in. It covers the cost of currency conversion and the extra processing involved in an international transaction. It is a standard charge and cannot be waived.
The fee is based on the currency of the transaction, not your location. Buying from an overseas website in another currency counts as cross-border, even if you never leave home.
Monthly maintenance fee
A monthly maintenance fee of €1.90 or £1.90 is deducted from your card, starting from the 13th month after your card was activated. The fee covers ongoing access to the CleverCards app, customer support, and the services that keep your card active.
Nothing is charged for the first 12 months. If the balance left on your card is less than the fee, whatever remains is taken towards it, and no further fee is charged on that card after that.

The full list of fees is in the Terms and Conditions specific to your card. To find them, tap your card in the CleverCards App and scroll to the bottom of the page. They are also available on the CleverCards website.
