Who this article is for: CleverCards Cardholders with an active CleverCard who want to spend it
Where can I spend my CleverCard?
Your CleverCard can be used online and in store, subject to standard merchant restrictions. You can buy groceries, eat out, buy a coffee, pay for a train or taxi, book flights, order takeaways, or shop with online retailers.
Some transaction types are not supported.
Paying in store
Before you can pay in a physical shop, your CleverCard must be added to your phone's mobile wallet: Google Pay on Android or Apple Pay on iPhone.
To make a contactless payment in a shop, unlock your phone first, then tap it on the payment terminal.
Paying online
- Select debit card as the payment method. Note that the payment screen looks different from one retailer to another.
- Open the CleverCards App and tap Show details under your card to see your 16-digit card number, expiry date and CVV.
- Enter the card details on the retailer's payment page.
CVV is the three-digit security code shown with your card details in the App. Retailers ask for it to confirm you have the card.
Before you complete the purchase, check that:
- The card number matches the one in the App
- The expiry date is correct
- The cardholder name is correct
- You have selected debit card as the payment method
You may be asked to confirm the payment with an extra security check
Using more than one card for a single purchase
Online, most retailers only allow one payment card per transaction, so you cannot combine two CleverCards for a single online purchase.
In store, some retailers do accept split payments across more than one card. This is at the retailer's discretion, not something CleverCards controls.
