Why are my transactions being declined?
If some of your transactions are being declined, it may be due to a compatibility issue between CleverCards and the merchant, the type of transaction, or insufficient funds.
Merchant-related reasons
- The merchant doesn't accept digital card payments.
- The merchant doesn't accept European-issued debit cards.
- The merchant does not have 3DS / SCA enabled to protect customers from fraudulent activity.
If you're experiencing declines at merchants that don't support 3DS / SCA, a possible workaround is to add your card to a digital wallet (such as Apple Pay or Google Pay) and pay directly at the point of sale
Transaction-related reasons
- CleverCards may be declined for recurring payments, such as subscriptions.
Transfers of balance to other payment platforms (e.g., Revolut, PayPal, or bank transfers) and cash withdrawals are not supported.
Balance-related reasons
- You don't have sufficient funds to cover the purchase amount.
