If you notice that some of your transactions are being declined, we believe it can be due to a lack of compatibility between CleverCards and the merchant, the nature of the transaction or a lack of funds.
Among the most common issues with merchants are:
- The merchant doesn’t accept MasterCard Prepaid card payments.
- The merchant doesn’t accept European issued credit/debit cards.
- The merchant does not have 3DS / SCA enabled to protect customers from fraudulent activities.
Common issues with the nature of the transaction:
- CleverCards may be refused for recurring payments (mainly subscriptions).
- Transfers of balance to other forms of payment (ex. Revolut, cash withdrawal, Paypal, bank transfer).
Balance:
- Insufficient funds to cover the value of the purchase.
However, a possible solution to avoid rejection with merchants without 3DS / SCA processes, is to add your card to Wallet and directly pay at the point of sale. This since ApplePay has different 3DS settings than CleverCards.
