Logging into the CleverCards App: passcodes, Face ID and troubleshooting

Written by Madalina

Who this article is for: CleverCards Cardholders who have activated their card and are logging into the CleverCards App.

How logging into the CleverCards App works

Unless you have set up biometrics, you enter two codes each time you log in.

Code

What it is

Where it comes from

6-digit one-time passcode

A single-use code that is different every time you log in

Sent to your registered phone number by WhatsApp, SMS or automated call

4-digit PIN

A fixed code that you chose yourself when you activated your first CleverCard

You set it and you memorise it

The 6-digit code changes every time. The 4-digit PIN stays the same.

See Your PIN: what it is, resetting and updating if you have forgotten yours.

Logging in with Face ID or fingerprint

Biometrics means using a physical feature, such as your face or fingerprint, to prove it is you, instead of typing a code.

To turn biometric login on or off:

  1. Open the CleverCards App

  2. Tap your profile icon in the top right corner

  3. Select Settings

  4. Find Log in with Face ID and use the toggle to turn it on or off

If Face ID is not working, check that it is set up on your phone and that the CleverCards App has permission to use it.

I am not receiving my 6-digit code

If your code does not arrive, wait 30 seconds and a Resend code link will appear. You can then choose to receive it by:

  • SMS

  • WhatsApp

  • Automated call

Please note: After 5 unsuccessful attempts you will need to wait 10 minutes before trying again.

I still cannot log in

Start with a refresh of the App itself:

  1. Delete the App from your phone

  2. Restart your phone

  3. Download the App again from the App Store or Google Play

If that does not help, check the following:

Clearing the App cache

The cache is temporary data the App stores so it loads faster. Clearing it does not delete your account, your card details or your transaction history.

iPhone

iOS does not let you clear one app's cache directly, so you offload and reinstall the App instead, which has the same effect.

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Tap General, then iPhone Storage

  3. Scroll down and tap CleverCards

  4. Tap Offload App and confirm

  5. Tap Reinstall App

Android

The exact wording varies slightly by manufacturer, but the steps are broadly the same.

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Tap Apps, sometimes shown as Applications or App Manager

  3. Find and tap CleverCards

  4. Tap Storage, then Clear Cache

Still having trouble?

Check you are running the latest version of the App, restart your phone, and try again. If it still will not work, contact us at [email protected].
